Two days before a May 2026 Utah TIM Coalition meeting at the Salt Lake Public Safety building, the Salt Lake City Fire Department had a struck-by incident on I-80 westbound west of I-15. The fire department was preparing to clear from a previous call and were preparing to remove their cones when a semi came into the lane taper too fast and struck other vehicles before swerving into the fire truck. Luckily no fire personnel or others were injured in this incident.
